Finding us
By car: Come off the M6 at Junction 33 (from the South) or Junction 34 (from the North) and follow signs for Lancaster Town Centre. Turn left at Waterstones, then first right to Castle Park. Sat nav doesn't show the exact location but keep Lancaster Castle on your right, and at the top of the hill you'll see some blue painted wooden gates in front of you with a sign above saying "MARSHRANGE NO PARKING". That’s us! The parking space is half way down the drive on the right. If we don’t hear you first just pop down the steps to the main house where I can check you in!
By train: We’re so close to the station you won’t need a taxi - just an easy 2 minute trundle with your suitcase! Leave via the ticket office exit, turn left and walk up the ramp. At the top you will see a very old, high wall in front of you - this wall surrounds Marshrange (our home) and Castle View. Follow it round to the right until you get to the main gate with a sign above saying "MARSHRANGE NO PARKING”. Go down the drive and you will see Castle View on the right hand side.
Getting around
Castle View has its own parking space. The train station really is 2 minutes away from the property gates. By train, Manchester airport is a direct 1 hour 15 train journey away. Oxenholme (The Lake District) is 12 mins. Yorkshire Dales 30 minutes. Morecambe 10 minutes. There are frequent direct trains to Edinburgh and London that take just under 2.5 hours. There are cycle tracks on our doorstep to picturesque riverside locations and seaside towns. We are less than 10 minutes walk away to the bus station.
Places to go
Castle View is situated within the peaceful Lancaster Castle Conservation area and yet only 3 minutes walk to the shops, cafes, bars and restaurants. If history is your thing then a visit to the castle is obviously a must...and if you're a culture vulture then we're a 10 minute walk to The Dukes theatre and cinema. Take in the views or even a sunset from Williamson Park - home to the iconic Ashton Memorial and 54 acres of beautiful parkland with enchanting woodland walks and breathtaking views to the Fylde Coast, Morecambe Bay and the Lake District. Beauty surrounds this hidden gem of a city and the location really couldn't be better. There are so many stunning places to visit.
